The School of Education, Central University of Rajasthan, was established in 2014. The department started an innovative Integrated M.Sc. B.Ed. the programme in the four disciplines: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Economics, with 25 intakes in each discipline and later, 5% seats increased for EWS category students. Therefore, the present intake is 120 overall. This programme is one of its kind in the nation and aims to prepare quality Post-Graduate Teachers for Higher Secondary Schools. The School of Education owned two departments, establishing the Yoga Department in 2016, i.e., the Department of Education and the Department of Yoga. The university constituted a ten-member committee to design the M.Sc. B Ed programme considering the component of the gazette notification 2014 passed by NCTE. The first batch graduated in the year 2018. In 2018, the Department of Education launched a PhD programme with two research scholars admitted. The faculty designed the coursework syllabus and passed it by the Academic council. At present, thirteen research scholars are pursuing PhD in the department, of which two are SRF, three are JRF, one has a UGC fellowship, and all scholars are NET qualified. In 2021, the department worked to revise the curriculum of the MSc B.Ed. (Education Component) to fulfil the TGT qualification requirement for second-grade teachers due to the high placement percentage at this level. The school had its first Board of Studies and School Board meeting in June 2020. The department offered a Master of Arts in Education in 2020, adopting Choice based credit system (CBCS). In 2021, the department provided two open electives for other department learners, i.e., Gender studies and Inclusive Education, according to NEP 2020 recommendations. Since 2020 (as per recommendation NEP2020,15.9 Teacher Education Chapter), the Department of Education revised the Framework for the PhD Course work (circular200) and launched a three-credit course in Pedagogy for Higher Education for the research scholars of the entire university. Now the Department of Education offers around ten courses as open electives for various level students of other university departments.
The Department of Education facilitates school internships for 120 students every year in various schools at Central School, Navodaya schools and State govt schools across the country and supervised around 400 Post Graduate minor /major research projects. The Department of Education conducted two National Webinars, one sponsored by NCTE, an Open House discussion sponsored by NCTE, two Capacity Building and Personality Development programmes funded by the National Commission for Women, and one Career Counselling Programme for homemakers sponsored by NCW.
Recently the department received recognition for the newly launched Teacher Education Programme named “Integrated Teacher Education Programme” by National Council for Teacher Education for one unit, i.e. 50 seats in science (B.Sc. B.Ed. Secondary Education).
