My research primarily investigates host-pathogen interactions, with a specific focus on Mycobacterium tuberculosis mechanisms of dormancy and persistence to inform drug designing and vaccine development. I am actively exploring the immunomodulatory potential of Mycobacterium indicus pranii (MIP) as a surrogate model for tuberculosis research and its protective effects in neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer’s Disease. Additionally, my work delves into the functional characterization of stress adaptation mechanisms, including Toxin-Antitoxin modules and Peptidyl-prolyl cis/trans isomerases (PPIases), to understand their roles in bacterial virulence and stress response. I am also engaged in identifying novel therapeutic interventions against anthrax and studying biofilm formation in pathogenic microorganisms. My laboratory is currently involved in establishing a BSL-3 facility to further infectious disease therapeutics and diagnostics.
